Muhammad, a postdoctoral researcher from Pakistan at the Hefei Institutes of Physical Science of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, has immersed himself in the vibrant research community on Science Island, situated in the eastern part of Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province.

As a member of Prof. HUANG Qing’s team, Muhammad shared his experience in developing of DNA-aptamer based surface enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) probes, which was featured on the cover of Analytical Chemistry. These probes are designed for studying immune system biomarkers related to bioprocesses in cancer cell metabolism.

The research journey spanned over a year, encountering occasional challenges and pauses along the way. Reflecting on this experience, Muhammad has many to share.

"When you in China, do like the Chinese do," Muhammad remarks, emphasizing his adaptability to the local customs and practices.

Muhammad finds immense fulfillment in his work and life in Hefei. He is particularly drawn to the dynamic and inclusive research environment, which he believes will continue to attract more foreigners to explore opportunities in the city. (Anhui Daily)
